Why should I use solar?
To cut your electricity costs, protect your business from yearly tariff increases and, with batteries, keep running through grid outages. A well-designed system pays for itself in 2–5 years, a strong return on investment that keeps paying long after.
Can my business claim a tax deduction on solar?
Yes. Under Section 12B of the Income Tax Act, a business that owns its solar PV system and uses it in its trade can deduct 100% of the cost in the first year, for systems up to 1 MW. Larger systems are deducted over three years (50%, 30%, 20%). Your tax advisor can confirm how it applies to you.
Can we finance the system instead of paying cash?
Yes. Alongside the cash price, we can arrange asset finance, rent-to-own or a power purchase agreement (PPA) through our funding partners. Your proposal shows the options side by side, so you can compare the monthly cost with the monthly savings.
What will my proposal show?
Your system design and expected solar production, your monthly and lifetime bill savings, the payback period, return on investment (ROI) and net present value (NPV), the Section 12B tax benefit, and your cash and finance options.
How does solar save my business money?
Every kWh your system produces is one you don’t buy from Eskom or the municipality at rising tariffs. Batteries can also cut peak-time and demand charges. Most commercial systems pay for themselves in 2–5 years. After that, the savings go straight to your bottom line.
How does solar help with peak demand and winter tariffs?
Most business tariffs charge more during peak hours and in the winter high-demand season, and many add a charge for your highest load. Solar covers daytime use, and batteries can supply power in peak periods, cutting both peak energy costs and your maximum demand.
What warranties do I get?
Inverters and batteries carry a 10-year swap-out warranty: a faulty unit is replaced. Our main AIKO solar panels carry a 30-year performance warranty (at least 88.85% of rated output after 30 years) and a 15- to 25-year product warranty, depending on the model.
What equipment do you use?
We design around leading brands, including Sigenergy and Sungrow inverters and batteries, and AIKO, JA Solar, Trina and Canadian Solar panels.
Do you maintain the system after installation?
Yes. We offer formal service level agreements (SLAs) that include electrical inspections, solar panel washing and performance reports, so your system keeps delivering the savings it was designed for.
What size systems do you install?
Commercial, industrial and farm systems, from about 50 kW up to multi-megawatt sites.
Do you work on farms?
Yes. We supply solar to all types of businesses and farms. On farms, we design solar and battery systems around how and when you use power, from irrigation pumps and boreholes to cold rooms, packhouses, dairies and workshops.
Do you handle the municipal approvals?
Yes. We prepare the SSEG application for your municipality or Eskom and issue the Certificate of Compliance (COC) for the installation.
Why do you measure our electricity use first?
Accurate consumption data is the key to sizing a system for the best return. Our engineers install electrical data loggers that record your site’s electricity use over a set period, so we can see when and where power is used and design the right system instead of guessing.
What do you need from us to get started?
Just your details in the quote form. Once we have them, we’ll ask for your last 12 months of electricity bills and the site address, so our engineers can assess the opportunity and plan a site visit.
